Breaking: Kenya’s Chief Of Defence Forces, 7 Other Soldiers Confirmed Dead In Chopper Crash

Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces has been confirmed dead along with seven other officers in a deadly helicopter crash in West Pokot today, 18th April, 2024.

The death of General Francis Omondi Ogolla was first confirmed by his daughter, Lorna Omondi Ogolla.

The other seven officers are; Brig. Said, Col. Keitany, Capt. Sora, Sgt. Omondi, Capt. Litali, Sgt. Nyawira and Lt. Col. Sawe.

The cause of the American made Huey Helicopter crash is not yet established.

By the time of filing this story, President Ruto was locked up in a meeting with the top brass of Kenya Defence Forces at State House.

Gen Francis Omondi Ogolla joined the Kenya Defence Forces on 24 April 1984 and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on 6 May 1985 and posted to Kenya Air Force.

In 2023, President Ruto appointed Gen. Ogolla as the new Chief of Defense Forces, taking over from Gen. Robert Kibochi whose term came to an end.
