Tears Flow As Nurse, 3 Children Are Laid To Rest; Husband Weeps Uncontrollably

By Frank Kamuntu

Mourners gathered to pay their final respects to 33-year-old nurse Linda Agyemang and her three children, whose lives were tragically cut short in a house fire at Atonsu, in the Ashanti Region.

Linda, a dedicated nurse at Kumasi South Hospital, perished alongside her children—aged 13, 10, and 3—when their home was engulfed in flames.

The funeral grounds were filled with mourners clad in black and red, their faces marked with grief. A widely circulated video captured a heart-wrenching scene of Linda’s husband sitting in stunned silence while her mother broke down in uncontrollable tears.

The devastating loss deeply affected not just family and friends but also Linda’s colleagues and the classmates of her children, who struggled to contain their emotions as they bid farewell.

Mynewsgh.com earlier reported that the tragic fire broke out in the early hours of 8 February 2025, trapping the family inside their home.

Despite desperate attempts by neighbours and passersby to save them, the flames proved too intense to penetrate.

Emergency responders arrived after being alerted, but by the time the fire was extinguished, the lifeless bodies of Linda and her children were found in the bathroom, where they had sought shelter from the inferno.

Linda’s grief-stricken husband, Agyemang, who works in Bibiani, recounted the harrowing final moments he shared with his wife over the phone at around 3:30 a.m.

“I was at work when my wife called me, crying out for help. I could hear my children screaming, ‘Dad, we are burning, we are burning!’ I kept shouting, asking if there was anyone around to help, but the line suddenly went silent,” he recalled, his voice trembling with emotion.

He made multiple attempts to call back, but there was no answer.

Realising the gravity of the situation, he rushed toward Gyinyase but faced difficulties finding transportation at that hour.

By the time he finally arrived, his worst nightmare had come true—his entire family was gone, and their home lay in ruins.

“I have lost everything. My children were my joy. They were the ones who always welcomed me home from work. Now, I have no one. My youngest child, especially, was my best friend. I can’t sleep because I keep seeing them in front of me,” he said, overwhelmed by grief.
