Armed Robbery: Clinical Officer, Eight Others Arrested In Kamuli, Two Loaded Guns Recovered

By Our Reporter

In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, police in Kamuli have apprehended nine individuals, including a clinical officer, in connection with a string of aggravated robberies across the Busoga region. The intelligence-led operation not only resulted in multiple arrests but also exposed a suspected network of criminals operating across districts.

Among those arrested is Fred Wambi, a resident of Kamuli Municipality, and Grace Mugaya, a clinical officer, raising concerns about professionals being entangled in criminal activities. Other suspects include residents from Bugweri and Iganga districts, further highlighting the widespread nature of the alleged criminal network.

Authorities acted swiftly after intelligence reports indicated Wambi was seen transporting suspected firearms on March 20, 2025. This prompted a multi-district police operation leading to the discovery of two guns, magazines loaded with live ammunition, and an assortment of suspected stolen property, including vehicles, electronics, and motor vehicle number plates.

ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Police Spokesperson, credited the success of the operation to increased community vigilance. “We appreciate the residents who provided crucial intelligence. Their cooperation is key in ensuring we dismantle such dangerous groups,” he stated.

The arrests have renewed discussions on security threats in Busoga, particularly the presence of organized criminal gangs. Authorities have reassured the public that investigations are ongoing and that efforts to curb violent crime remain a top priority.
