In a resounding show of loyalty, vision, and personal sacrifice, Prosper Kururagire, the Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mbarara District, has emerged as a towering pillar of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 re-election campaign in Western Uganda.
Kururagire, widely regarded as one of the most dedicated grassroots mobilizers in the region, has taken the lead in urging the people of Mbarara and the entire Western Uganda to stand firmly behind the NRM and President Museveni, whom he describes as “the father of Uganda’s transformation and stability.”
What sets Kururagire apart is not just his rhetoric—but his action. The seasoned political mobilizer has poured his own personal resources into the cause, including constructing a modern, fully-equipped NRM office in Mbarara City, which now serves as a command center for party activities and a hub of strategic planning for 2026.
The modern office, described by observers as “swanky” and “corporate-grade,” is not only symbolic of his commitment to the party but also practical—housing mobilization teams, hosting party trainings, and providing a space where youth, women, and elders can gather to coordinate outreach and share ideas. The facility has become a landmark in Western Uganda’s political landscape.
“Chairman Kururagire is not waiting for campaign season,” said one party youth coordinator in Kashari. “He has already kicked off the campaign, and the energy on the ground is electrifying.”
Indeed, thanks to his leadership and unwavering loyalty to the NRM cause, Western Uganda is witnessing a historic wave of early mobilization. In parishes, sub-counties, towns, and even hard-to-reach rural areas, party cells have been reactivated, youth groups are being trained, and pro-Museveni songs are echoing at community gatherings.
Kururagire’s message is simple and consistent: “Let us reward the man who has built roads, secured peace, and ensured that every region of Uganda has a future.” His efforts have drawn widespread praise, even from political analysts who note that Mbarara District—and Western Uganda as a whole—is poised to deliver an overwhelming 99% vote in favor of President Museveni come 2026.
From his own transportation to the fuel that drives NRM vehicles during mobilization drives, Kururagire has spared no cost in ensuring that the party remains at the heart of the people.
“He is our real general on the ground,” remarked one elder from Rwampara. “His love for Museveni is genuine. He’s not in it for what he can get—he gives instead.”
Kururagire has also worked closely with religious leaders, business owners, youth influencers, and cultural institutions, fostering a broad-based coalition to rally support for President Museveni’s continued leadership. Many see his work as a textbook example of servant leadership—where personal comfort is sacrificed for the greater good of the party and country.
In a time where many politicians wait for directives or funding from above, Kururagire’s independent initiative stands as a beacon of proactive leadership and party patriotism. His actions have reenergized even the most skeptical voters and rekindled faith in the NRM’s grassroots machinery.
With 2026 now less than a year away, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: in Western Uganda, the NRM is not just a political party—it is a movement reignited by the personal commitment of leaders like Prosper Kururagire.
As the chants of “Museveni Oyee!” grow louder across Ankole and beyond, the legacy of Chairman Kururagire may well be written in history as one of the architects of NRM’s next resounding victory.
