Byanyima Breathes Fresh Air As Besigye’s Health Highly Improves, Surrenders Life To Jesus In Luzira Prison

By Our Reporter

Supporters of opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye have received uplifting news regarding his improved health and newfound faith while in Luzira Prison.

His wife, Winnie Byanyima, along with Haji Obeid Lutale, recently visited him and provided a reassuring update. Byanyima confirmed that Besigye is in “good spirits” and is able to walk and converse with visitors, dispelling concerns over his physical condition.

“I was relieved to see @kizzabesigye1 able to walk and talk with his visitors,” she shared, offering hope to those who have been worried about his well-being. Despite his imprisonment, Besigye remains mentally and physically strong, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity.

In an unexpected and deeply personal development, reports have surfaced that Besigye has accepted salvation while in prison. This revelation has been met with celebration among members of Uganda’s Born-Again Faith, who see it as a sign of divine intervention.

“This is what the Lord does…it is written that nobody can come to the son unless the father has drawn him,” said Rev. Fredrick Ssemazzi of Grace Assemblies Church on Sunday.

The news was confirmed by former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga, who recently visited Besigye in Luzira and personally attested to his decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Religious leaders and supporters alike believe this moment marks a powerful shift in his journey, offering him inner peace and renewed strength.

Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate and longtime critic of President Yoweri Museveni’s government, has been detained since November last year on treason charges following his arrest in Kenya. Despite repeated legal efforts, he remains incarcerated, awaiting the court’s decision on his bail application.

Together with his co-accused, Obeid Lutale, the 68-year-old opposition figure recently applied for bail, arguing that they are law-abiding citizens of advanced age facing bailable offenses, including treason and misprision. As legal proceedings continue, his supporters remain hopeful that he will soon be released.

For many, Besigye’s improved health and spiritual transformation serve as a beacon of hope. While the fight for his freedom continues, his resilience and newfound faith offer inspiration to those standing by his side in pursuit of justice.
