Facts On Corruption Allegations Against LC5 Chairperson Madam Nandudu Annet

By Our Reporter

During a recent visit to Bulambuli District by Hon. Akello Beatrice, the State Minister for Economic Monitoring, alongside the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and ISO, grave allegations were raised against the LC5 Chairperson, Madam Nandudu Annet. District councillors reported that development in the district has been severely hindered by her leadership, accusing her of coercing heads of departments into paying kickbacks amounting to UGX 15 million per financial release.

Evidence, including an audio recording presented to the Anti-Corruption Unit, implicates Madam Nandudu in demanding bribes and threatening dismissal for non-compliance. These revelations not only tarnish the integrity of the district leadership but also create a hostile environment for civil servants, undermining service delivery and development.

Bulambuli District is now at a crossroads. As investigations continue, it is imperative for the local government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to protect civil servants from blackmail and intimidation. Strengthening whistleblower protection and enforcing accountability measures are critical steps toward restoring trust and ensuring ethical governance.

The allegations against Madam Nandudu Annet have placed her leadership under intense scrutiny. If found guilty, she must face the full force of the law to set a precedent that corruption and abuse of power will not be tolerated.
