Kyadondo East MP, Hon. Nkunyingi Muwada, has raised concern over the alleged abduction of Mukono North MP Hon. Abdalla Kiwanuka after a political rally in Komamboga, Kawempe North.
On March 2, 2025, Muwada posted on X, saying that Kiwanuka was taken by unidentified people using drones, a method that has been criticised for targeting opposition politicians.
He also said the same group had earlier tried to interfere with the campaign rally of NUP candidate Luyimbazi Elias Nalukoola in Kawempe North.
Two hours later, Muwada said Kiwanuka had been found at Kawempe Police Station after efforts by fellow MPs to locate him. Reports suggested that he was asked to remove his red overall, an attire linked to the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP).
Muwada and other opposition leaders have called for Kiwanuka’s release, saying such incidents affect political freedoms.
