The local community is mourning the loss of esteemed businessman and leader Nelson Dada, who passed away due to complications related to a hernia. He died a few hours after undergoing surgery at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, according to media reports.
Mr. Dada was a well-known figure in Arua and the wider West Nile region. He served as the chairman of the Arua Main Market Vendors Association and was widely regarded as the longest-serving leader in the market’s history. Over the past 15 years, he frequently appeared in the media, speaking on issues affecting the Arua Main Market and advocating for the welfare of vendors.
Mr. Dada is survived by three wives and twenty-nine children. His body is currently being preserved at the Arua Regional Referral Hospital morgue as burial arrangements are being finalized. The family has announced that the date for burial will be communicated in due course.
In a separate loss to the community, Habibu Wambede, the former LC III Chairman of the Northern Division, also passed away a few days ago.
Both men leave behind legacies of leadership and community service that will be remembered by many in the region.
