As Uganda prepares for the 2025-2026 elections, recent opinion polls from the western region have positioned aspiring MP Ndyakira Nicholas Muhereza as the leading candidate in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality. His leadership style, grassroots engagement, and policy priorities have resonated well with the electorate, leading the race with 65% while his closest rival Hajji Id Basaja has 25%.

Mbarara District
In Kashari North, Patrick Akiiki is leading with 74.6%, while Bazil Bataringaya follows with 22%. The Kashari South race is closer, with Jb Bamuturaki polling 52.3%, slightly ahead of Kakuru Rwabwari at 31.6%.
For Mbarara City, North Division sees Dr. Robert Kyabari leading at 76%, while Chris Bakashaba stands at 8%. The South Division contest has Apollo Rutoha at 14.1%, while Muberekyi Emma trails with 30%.
Mitooma & Ibanda Districts
In Mitooma, Thomas Tayebwa leads the Ruhinda North County with 83%, while Njuneki Gerald dominates Ruhinda County at 26%.
In Ibanda, the race for Ibanda County North has Gyomu Kamwiza ahead at 50.9%, while Ibanda Municipality sees Turihabwe Ruthende in the lead at 61.5%.
Other Notable Figures In The Region
- Kazo County: Dan Kimosho leads.
- Kiruhura County: Tumuramye Genensio tops at 73%.
- Ntungamo Municipality: Yona Musinguzi leads at 45%.
- Isingiro District: Bukanga County has Mpihunde leading with 73%.
- Sheema Municipality: Ephraim Kamuntu dominates with 59%.
- Buhweju County: Kabwegyere is leading at 60%.
