The Court of Appeal has upheld a 30-year prison sentence for Faridah Nagayi, also known as Mariam, after she was found guilty of brutally murdering her boyfriend, Tuomas Juha Terasvouri, on February 6, 2018. The ruling was delivered on March 20, confirming the initial verdict.

According to court records, Nagayi lured Terasvouri to a hotel room, where she poisoned him.

Prosecutors detailed how she administered a lethal substance, leaving him unconscious before fleeing the scene.

Hotel staff later discovered his lifeless body, prompting an investigation that led to her arrest.

The prosecution argued that Nagayi planned the murder to exploit her boyfriend financially. Evidence, including surveillance footage and witness testimonies, placed her at the crime scene, strengthening the case against her.

The judge emphasized that the brutal nature of the murder warranted a harsh sentence, citing it as a betrayal of trust.

Nagayi’s defense team sought a lighter sentence, arguing she acted under emotional distress.

However, the Court of Appeal ruled that the evidence proved premeditation, rejecting the appeal.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with many calling the ruling a strong message against violent crimes in intimate relationships.
