Workplace Massacre: Guard Opens Fire At Ultimate Security Offices In Mbuya, Three Dead

By Our Reporter

A somber cloud hangs over Kampala’s security sector following a tragic workplace shooting at the Ultimate Security Company offices in Mbuya that left three people dead, including the suspected shooter.

The deceased have been identified as Noella Zella, the Assistant Human Resource Officer; Salez Bwampata, the Armory Officer; and Richard Mwaawa, a security guard employed by the same company, who is believed to have been the gunman.

According to preliminary police reports, the incident unfolded at around 9:00 AM when Mwaawa allegedly entered the company’s premises and, without warning, opened fire—first targeting Zella, then turning the weapon on Bwampata. Responding swiftly to emergency calls, police officers arrived on scene and engaged Mwaawa, fatally shooting him during efforts to neutralize the threat.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the incident, noting that the weapon used in the shooting was recovered and has been submitted for forensic analysis.

“All three bodies were conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations,” Owoyesigyire stated. “At this stage, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Investigations are ongoing, and more information will be released in due course.”

The shocking incident, which unfolded in broad daylight in one of Kampala’s busiest administrative zones, has sent shockwaves through the public and reignited urgent concerns about workplace safety, access to firearms, and mental health support within private security firms.

Ultimate Security Company, has yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.

The police have appealed for calm from the public and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as investigations intensify.

“Let’s allow law enforcement agencies the time and space needed to conduct a thorough investigation,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.

As details continue to emerge, the incident has left colleagues, families, and the general public grappling with grief—and demanding answers.
