CEC’s Kitchen Needs New Chefs: Eng.Jonard Asiimwe Pledges To End Dormant Leadership & Supercharge NRM’s Grassroots Power

By Frank Kamuntu

In a spirited appearance on NBS Television’s Morning Breeze show, Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, a distinguished engineer and committed cadre of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), laid out his vision for a more vibrant, accountable, and strategically focused Central Executive Committee (CEC). Asiimwe, who is vying for the position of Western Uganda CEC Vice Chairperson, underscored the need for deeper engagement between party leadership and grassroots structures to fortify the NRM’s legacy of stability and progress.

“CEC is supposed to align and keep party structures upright,” Asiimwe remarked. “You can’t tell me you are a CEC member and you spend five years without meeting your regional party heads.” He likened the CEC to the nerve centre of the party, warning against leaders who distance themselves from the foundational structures that sustain the NRM’s unity and effectiveness.

Using a vivid metaphor, Asiimwe illustrated his call for hands-on leadership: “If you have a kitchen at home and you allow your chefs to be in the sitting room all the time and dine with guests, you shouldn’t be surprised if the chef serves burnt food.” He added that the CEC is “more of a kitchen or laboratory” and proposed that, in the future, members should not engage in elective politics, so that “their focus is clear.”

Drawing from his years of service within the NRM hierarchy, Asiimwe noted that while the CEC races have historically been predictable, the need for “electoral hygiene” remains paramount. He also called for an end to monetised politics, condemning the practice of handing out cash as a campaign tool. “There is a difference between having money and misusing it. It’s not right to meet people and distribute money as a way of campaigning,” he emphasised.

Beyond his strong policy stances, Asiimwe’s track record speaks volumes. A man of integrity, technical expertise, and deep patriotic conviction, he has consistently demonstrated an ability to balance visionary thinking with practical solutions. His leadership style is anchored in consultation, discipline, and the unshakeable belief that the NRM must continue to serve as a vehicle for national transformation.

Many supporters believe that electing Eng. Jonard Asiimwe will inject fresh energy and principled stewardship into the CEC, ensuring that the Western region’s voice is not only heard but also respected in the party’s highest decision-making circles. With a keen understanding of Uganda’s political architecture and a passion for building unity, he embodies the calibre of leadership that every loyal and patriotic Ugandan should rally behind.
