Dev’t Bombshell: Museveni Announces New Industrial Park, World Class Roads & Jobs For Bunyoro

By Frank Kamuntu

Kibaale District: Leaders in the Bunyoro sub-region have hailed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for spearheading major development projects and policies that have transformed the region and opened new opportunities for women, youth, and local communities.

The commendations were made as President Museveni launched his Bunyoro sub-region campaign in Buyanja Village, Kibaale District, where he announced additional government interventions aimed at boosting industrial growth, skills development, and household wealth creation.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja led the praise, describing President Museveni as a “champion of women emancipation.” She said her own rise from district leadership to the position of Prime Minister reflects the increased space and opportunities that women now enjoy under the NRM government.

“The doors that have opened for women in leadership today are a direct result of President Museveni’s commitment to empowering us,” Nabbanja said.

Kibaale District NRM Chairperson Matovu Fred also thanked the President for what he called “historic mega projects” transforming the region. These include the Kabalega International Airport, the Hoima City Stadium, the new public regional university, and a steadily expanding and upgraded road network.

Matovu confirmed that 110 acres have already been secured for the proposed Kibaale Industrial Park, a project expected to anchor industrialisation and job creation in the district.

While addressing residents, President Museveni emphasised that the NRM’s 40-year track record in Bunyoro is built on peace, development, and wealth creation.

He reminded residents of the past ADF incursions in Muzizi, noting that the peace restored by the NRM remains the foundation on which current progress stands.

The President rejected claims that Bunyoro has been neglected, citing major government investments such as the Hoima–Kyegegwa Road and extensive petroleum-related infrastructure that is positioning the region as a national industrial hub.

Museveni announced that government will establish a new industrial park requiring 10 square miles, complementing existing parks in Namanve, Mbale, and Kapeka. He also promised an additional skilling hub to equip young people with practical skills for employment and enterprise.

The President encouraged households to adopt the four-acre model, which focuses on intensive, high-value agriculture supported by enterprise selection and financing under the Parish Development Model (PDM). He cited success stories from farmers whose income and livelihoods have improved under NRM-guided productivity programs.

Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, thanked President Museveni for steering sustained development in Bunyoro and urged residents to “entrust him with another mandate to consolidate the gains achieved.”

NRM Western Region Vice Chairperson, Hon. Jonard Asiimwe, pledged to closely monitor the implementation of the proposed industrial park to ensure that the project moves according to plan.
