Hands Off Wanainchi Cash!-Furious Museveni Opens War On Thieves Of PDM, Emyooga Funds In Wakiso

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections, on Monday urged residents of Wakiso District to closely monitor the utilisation of government development funds to ensure they are used for their intended purposes.

“The money for the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga is available, and those who steal it can be easily arrested because they are right here with us in Uganda,” President Museveni said.

The President made the remarks while addressing a campaign rally at the Entebbe Municipality playgrounds in Wakiso District. He was accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni.

President Museveni revealed that the government has increased PDM funding to Shs300 million per parish and has also established a special fund targeting leaders, market vendors, mechanics, and fisheries. He said the initiative aims to improve livelihoods through wealth creation.

He called on wananchi to take ownership of the PDM programme as a way of curbing corruption among public officials.

The President further noted that the NRM government has laid a strong foundation across various sectors, creating employment opportunities for millions of Ugandans. He encouraged Wakiso residents to tap into opportunities in industrialisation, commercial agriculture, services such as tourism, and skills development, including artisanship.

On infrastructure, President Museveni assured residents that construction works on key roads—including the Kisubi–Nakawuka–Mpigi road, the Nakawuka–Nateete road, and other ongoing projects across the district—will be completed promptly to enhance mobility and boost business activities.

However, he cautioned voters against what he described as opportunistic opposition politicians whom he accused of frustrating development programmes. He urged the electorate to vote for NRM flag bearers to ensure effective service delivery.

Speaking at the same rally, Maama Janet Museveni attributed the development gains in Entebbe and Wakiso District to the NRM’s strategic leadership, anchored on peace and stability.

She reminded residents of the pivotal role played by the NRM government in Uganda’s development, noting that peace has been the foundation of sustained progress.

“God has used the NRM government, President Museveni, and the UPDF to safeguard peace, unity, and stability in Uganda over the years,” she said, as she called on voters to support President Museveni and other NRM candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Meanwhile, the NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, urged party members in Entebbe and Wakiso to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections. He emphasized discipline and mutual respect among party cadres during and after the electoral process.

The NRM Second National Vice Chairperson and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, highlighted several ongoing and planned development projects in Wakiso District facilitated by the NRM government. These include the Shs35 billion Lubugumu–Busabala road project, the Shs15.5 billion Kitoolo–Kawuku road, the Shs23 billion Entebbe–Nakiwogo road, and a planned bridge at the same location.

She rallied residents to vote for the NRM to secure continued development interventions in Entebbe and Wakiso District.
