Sudhir Ruparelia Hosts Heritage Times Delegation Ahead Of Landmark East Africa Trade Summit

Uganda’s leading businessman, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, has hosted a delegation from Heritage Times of London as preparations gather momentum for the inaugural East African Trade & Digital Transformation Summit, which is expected to position Uganda as a regional hub for trade, investment and digital innovation.

The delegation, led by Heritage Times representative Moses Selasia, met Dr. Ruparelia in Kampala, where discussions focused on Uganda’s investment potential and opportunities for deeper regional and international collaboration.

Following the meeting, Selasia described the engagement as a privilege, praising Dr. Ruparelia’s contribution to business and economic development across the continent.

“It was a great pleasure meeting with Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, LL.D, Chairman of the Ruparelia Group and one of Africa’s most accomplished business magnates, during our partnership engagement ahead of the First East African Trade & Digital Transformation Summit in Kampala, Uganda,” Selasia said.

The meeting underscores Dr. Ruparelia’s growing influence in conversations around investment, entrepreneurship and private sector-led economic transformation, with his business empire continuing to attract international attention.

As Chairman of the Ruparelia Group, Dr. Ruparelia has built one of East Africa’s largest privately owned conglomerates, with investments spanning real estate, hospitality, education, insurance, agriculture, media and construction. His companies employ thousands of Ugandans and have played a significant role in expanding the country’s private sector.

The Heritage Times delegation also held high-level engagements with Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, alongside Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. Sanjay Tanna and Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon. Justin Kasule Lumumba.

Kadaga welcomed the delegation, saying Uganda was ready to host the landmark summit as part of efforts to strengthen regional trade and digital transformation.

“In preparation for the proposed East Africa Trade and Digital Summit to be held in Uganda, we are happy to welcome Moses Selasia of Heritage Times of London and his team,” Kadaga said.

She noted that the delegation also met prominent Ugandan entrepreneurs, including Ham Kiggundu, to gain firsthand insight into Uganda’s investment climate and the country’s private sector success stories.

According to Kadaga, the engagements are expected to showcase Uganda’s economic opportunities while strengthening partnerships that will promote trade, innovation and digital transformation across East Africa.

Dr. Ruparelia’s inclusion among the key business leaders consulted ahead of the summit reflects his standing as one of Uganda’s most influential investors and a major contributor to the country’s economic growth. Through the Ruparelia Group, he has championed investments in sectors that continue to create employment, develop infrastructure and enhance Uganda’s attractiveness as a destination for local and foreign investment.

The forthcoming East African Trade & Digital Transformation Summit is expected to bring together government leaders, investors, technology experts and business executives from across the region and beyond to explore strategies for accelerating trade, innovation and sustainable economic development.
