The proud muzzukulu, staunch supporter and mobilizer for HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Abaho Badru has officially declared his bid for the position of National Secretary for Finance in the NRM Youth League for the 2025–2030 term, launching a campaign under the resonant slogan “Building Opportunity Together.” With a strong background in youth leadership and financial management, Abaho positions himself as a transformative candidate focused on transparency, accountability, and empowerment.
A Proven Track Record in Leadership
Abaho’s journey to national youth politics is rooted in a solid foundation of student leadership and financial stewardship:
- 2018–2019: MP, School of Business – Kampala University
Representing business students, Abaho advocated for academic reform, entrepreneurial support, and inclusive student development. - 2018–2019: Guild Speaker – Kampala University
As Guild Speaker, he upheld institutional integrity, promoting student engagement and fostering open debate. - 2019–2020: Guild President – Kampala University
His election to the highest student office was marked by developmental leadership, prioritizing student welfare, infrastructure enhancement, and policy advocacy. - 2019–2020: Vice Chairman – Guild Presidents’ Association of Uganda
Here, he championed collective student interests nationally, engaging with policymakers and promoting unity among Uganda’s higher institutions. - 2019–2020: Secretary for Finance – Uganda National Students Association (UNSA)
In one of the country’s top student financial management roles, Abaho oversaw budgeting and expenditure, ensuring effective use of student funds and promoting financial integrity.
Vision For NRM Youth League
Declaring his bid, Abaho emphasized to Swift News the urgent need to reform and modernize financial operations within the Youth League. His priorities include:
- Transparent Financial Systems with clear reporting and accountability mechanisms.
- Youth Empowerment Programs that expand access to capital, skills training, and employment.
- Equitable Resource Distribution to ensure that all regions benefit from NRM youth initiatives.
- Building Financial Literacy through structured education and mentorship.
