Former Supreme Mufti of the Kibuli-based Muslim faction in Uganda, Sheikh Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa, has passed away.
Sheikh Ndirangwa passed away on Friday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 65, according to close family sources and senior Muslim leaders.
Ndirangwa served as the spiritual head of the Kibuli Muslim administration until his unexpected resignation in April 2021. His departure from leadership came amid internal tensions within the faction, although he cited a need to promote unity among Muslims in the country.
Born in Kawempe, Sheikh Ndirangwa was widely respected as a moderate and unifying voice in Uganda’s Muslim community. He championed socio-economic development, education, and interfaith dialogue during his time as Supreme Mufti.
Funeral arrangements are currently underway, with the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council expected to release an official program shortly.
