Renowned businessman and philanthropist Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has hosted children from underprivileged backgrounds to a Christmas luncheon at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in a gesture aimed at spreading joy and goodwill during the festive season.
The event brought together children from neighbouring communities, who were treated to a festive meal, games and entertainment in the serene lakeside setting. Organisers said the initiative was intended to give the children an opportunity to celebrate Christmas in an environment that promotes dignity, inclusion and care.
The luncheon forms part of a wider Christmas outreach programme by the Ruparelia Foundation, which has been engaging with vulnerable communities in Kampala, including Kamwokya and other low-income areas. Over the past week, the foundation has distributed food items, gifts and provided support to families and children in need.
This year’s outreach carries added significance as it is being conducted in memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, whose philanthropic efforts focused on uplifting disadvantaged communities. Family members and foundation representatives said the initiatives reflect his values of generosity, humility and service.
Community leaders and parents who attended the event expressed appreciation for the support, noting that such initiatives help restore hope and foster a sense of belonging among vulnerable children.
The Ruparelia Foundation has a long history of supporting social causes, particularly those aimed at improving the welfare of children and disadvantaged groups. As the festive season continues, the foundation says it remains committed to promoting compassion, unity and shared responsibility within communities.
