Victoria University has announced a recruitment drive for qualified and innovative academic professionals as it seeks to strengthen its teaching, research and community engagement agenda.

The Kampala-based university is inviting applications for the positions of Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer, calling on passionate educators who are committed to delivering student-centred learning and contributing to institutional growth.

In the announcement, the university described itself as a workplace where innovation is encouraged and employees are empowered to make a lasting impact.

Successful candidates will be expected to prepare and deliver lectures, mentor students, supervise research and internships, assess academic performance and contribute to curriculum development using innovative teaching methods.

The university said the roles also involve conducting research, publishing scholarly work, writing grant proposals, participating in consultancies and supporting community outreach initiatives aimed at solving real-world challenges.

Assistant Lecturers will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate diploma students, mentor teaching assistants and participate in faculty research and innovation activities.

Applicants for the Assistant Lecturer position must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognised institution, a First Class or Second Class Lower Bachelor’s degree, at least three years of university teaching or relevant industry experience, two recognised publications in their area of specialisation within the last two years, and evidence of community engagement.

For the position of Lecturer, applicants must hold a PhD and a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, alongside a First Class or Second Class Upper Bachelor’s degree.

Candidates are also expected to have at least three years of university teaching or relevant professional experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated contributions to community service.

Depending on the faculty and discipline, applicants for the Lecturer position must have either four recognised publications within the past two years or six recognised publications, with at least three as the first, corresponding or senior author.

Victoria University said it is looking for professionals with strong teaching, research and mentorship skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, creativity, innovation, problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to emerging teaching technologies, including online and hybrid learning.

The institution noted that successful candidates will play a key role in advancing academic excellence, promoting impactful research and equipping graduates with practical skills required in today’s competitive job market.
