MADDU, GOMBA — The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has officially launched a nationwide seed distribution initiative aimed at boosting household production as the rainy season begins.
The exercise kicked off in Maddu Town Council, Gomba District, where Namyalo, popularly known as Museveni’s Chief Muzzukulu, addressed local leaders and farmers gathered amidst a heavy downpour. She announced that with the political season now concluded, government empowerment activities are shifting focus back to economic productivity and livelihood support following prolonged dry spells across the region.
“We have finished the election period and now it is time for work,” Namyalo urged, calling on communities to set aside political differences and make immediate use of the rains.
To support planting season preparations across Maddu’s 19 villages, the ONC delivered essential agricultural materials including high-yield maize and bean seeds, fertilizers, and targeted pesticides. Namyalo cautioned beneficiaries against misuse, emphasizing that timely inputs must translate into real output and higher household incomes through proper cooperative farming.
Local leadership welcomed the initiative while appealing for expanded support targeting youth and women’s self-employment. Julius Kibirige, the NRM Chairperson for Maddu, highlighted the loyalty of Greater Maddu residents and requested vocational training and practical equipment, such as sewing machines, to empower women in setting up small businesses.
Similarly, Maddu Town Council Mayor Alali Muhiirwa Kabaleega emphasized youth unemployment, advocating for practical business equipment including popcorn machines, brickmaking units, salon kits, and tailoring tools. Mayor Kabaleega reinforced the transition from politics, declaring, “The political season is now over; it is now time for working.”
Responding to local requests, Namyalo confirmed that the agricultural supply drive will be paired with vocational and enterprise empowerment tools. Future distributions will feature equipment for bricklaying, welding, and other technical trades.
To ensure long-term impact, Namyalo directed local leaders to identify active, committed community members who will put the equipment to immediate use rather than leaving tools idle. The expanded initiative aims to build sustainable, self-reliant livelihoods for youth and women across Uganda throughout the current planting season.
