From Groundbreaking To Completion: Full Pictorial Of Bungwanyi School Built Through Hon. Nabulo’s Lobbying

What started as a school struggling with dilapidated classroom structures has now turned into a story of transformation at Bungwanyi Government-Aided Primary School in Mafudu Sub-county, Sironko District, following a sustained lobbying effort by Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament Asha Nabulo Lumolo Mafabi.

The transformation did not happen overnight. It began with a visit by Nabulo to the school during the 2021 general election campaigns, when she encountered pupils studying in ageing structures that had become a major concern for the school community.

Some of the classrooms were in such poor condition that pupils and teachers faced safety concerns, particularly during rainy weather. The situation also affected learning and contributed to challenges in attracting and retaining pupils.

Determined to find a lasting solution, Nabulo engaged Madina Masjid and lobbied the Muslim charity to support the construction of permanent classrooms and provision of desks for the school.

Her efforts eventually bore fruit, with the charity committing more than Shs800 million towards the construction and equipping of four permanent classrooms.

The project then moved from plans to construction, with the old challenges gradually giving way to a modern and safer learning environment. The progress was marked by the construction of the classroom block, installation of the necessary facilities and eventual provision of desks for learners.

After completion, the four classrooms were commissioned on September 21, 2026, marking a major milestone for a school that had struggled for years with inadequate infrastructure.

Today, the classrooms are no longer a construction project or a promise. They are being used by pupils and teachers as part of the school’s daily learning activities.

The completed project has provided Bungwanyi Primary School, which has about 400 pupils from Primary One to Primary Seven, with additional space and a safer environment for education.
