Prominent Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) mobilizer and outspoken National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter, Kabbichi Junior, has called upon the Army Council to officially recognize President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with the rank of Field Marshal in honor of his unparalleled contributions to Uganda’s political stability and security.
Kabbichi made the remarks during a live broadcast on Rest TV’s political talk show, The Take Off, in Kampala, emphasizing the significance of honoring the Head of State while he is still alive. “President Museveni has dedicated his life to securing this nation and transforming Uganda politically and economically. We must appreciate him now by according him the Field Marshal rank he rightly deserves,” Kabbichi said.
Growing Momentum For Museveni’s Field Marshal Recognition
Kabbichi’s comments add to growing public and institutional calls to bestow the prestigious rank of Field Marshal on President Museveni. Recently, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, confirmed that President Museveni had already been declared a Five-Star General, stating, “Actually, Mzee is a Field Marshal. The only true Field Marshal in Africa’s history.” Gen. Muhoozi further revealed that the official pipping ceremony for the President will be held on Heroes’ Day, June 9th, in the presence of Gen. Salim Saleh and other distinguished military officers.
If formalized, this recognition will cement Museveni’s legacy as the first Field Marshal in Uganda’s history, acknowledging his role as Commander-in-Chief and his contributions to regional peace and security over nearly four decades in power.
Championing Wealth Creation Through PDM
In the same program, Kabbichi Junior lauded President Museveni’s Parish Development Model (PDM), urging Ugandans to embrace the initiative as a transformative tool for economic empowerment. He described PDM as a revolutionary approach designed to lift millions of Ugandans out of poverty by bringing financial resources closer to the people.
“President Museveni’s vision for economic transformation is unmatched,” Kabbichi said. “The PDM is a game-changer. It empowers local communities by providing direct access to capital, fostering self-sufficiency, and promoting grassroots wealth creation.”
Kabbichi has consistently praised the PDM for its ability to:
- Promote financial inclusion by offering affordable credit to farmers, traders, and small-scale entrepreneurs.
- Boost agricultural productivity by funding modernized farming practices and increasing yields.
- Create employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women, by supporting small businesses and cooperatives.
- Ensure decentralized service delivery, cutting through bureaucratic inefficiencies and enhancing transparency.
- Drive economic transformation for marginalized communities, reducing reliance on government aid.
Kabbichi’s Grassroots Mobilization Efforts
Beyond television appearances, Kabbichi Junior has traveled extensively across Uganda, mobilizing communities and sensitizing them on how to benefit from the PDM. His outreach programs have focused on educating youth and women on forming Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs), demystifying the application process for PDM funds, and countering misinformation about government initiatives.
He maintains that PDM is not merely a government program but a national movement towards self-reliance. “The future of Uganda’s economy lies in our ability to uplift the most vulnerable. PDM provides the tools to achieve this,” he emphasized.
Now, as Uganda looks toward achieving Vision 2040, Kabbichi Junior believes President Museveni’s legacy will be defined not only by his military and political leadership but also by his commitment to eradicating poverty through programs like PDM.
By championing Museveni’s contributions and advocating for his elevation to Field Marshal, Kabbichi continues to position himself as a key voice in Uganda’s socio-economic transformation journey.
The nation now looks ahead to Heroes’ Day on June 9th, when the official pipping ceremony for President Museveni as Field Marshal is expected to take place, further solidifying his place in Uganda’s history.
