Independence Day: Inside Putin’s Thrilling Letter That Left Museveni With Endless Smiles

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday sent a congratulatory message to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni as the East African country marked her Independence Day having gained sovereignty in 1962.

The celebrations took place at the Kitgum District.

Putin expressed his heartfelt message to Museveni and the people of Uganda.

”The Russian-Ugandan relationship has been traditionally friendly and that was fully confirmed by our joint work during the recent Russia-Africa Summit in Saint Petersburg,” Putin said in a letter addressed to Museveni.

The Russian President further called for more bilateral talks with Uganda to strengthen security and stability in the country and Africa.

I am confident that we will continue to increase constructive bilateral cooperation in various areas for to benefit of our peoples and in the interests of strengthening security and stability on African continents and I wish all Ugandan citizens peace and prosperity,” he said.

Museveni has been Putin’s ally in East Africa for a long time a relationship that is seen as mutually beneficial.

The two have worked together to ensure that their countries are able to boost their economies.

Museveni and Putin have also been holding talks together to enable Russia and Uganda to collaborate in business, agriculture, space science and industry.
