In a commanding display of political dominance and deep-seated public trust, Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire has been officially declared the NRM Chairman for Mbarara District, emerging victorious unopposed in what observers are calling one of the most decisive endorsements in the region’s political history.
From the very roots of Bukiro Village, where his journey began, to the district-wide structures of Mbarara, Tuhaise’s path to leadership has been nothing short of monumental. At every level of the NRM internal elections—village, town council, and district—no single opponent dared to challenge him. It was a clean sweep powered by loyalty, performance, and an unbreakable bond with the electorate. What a political lion-Tuhaise is! the unstoppable force!
“Tuhaise is not a seasonal leader. He walks with the people, listens to us, and delivers tangible results. That’s why no one dared contest him,” said Ruth Kabagambe, an NRM supporter from Rubindi.
Well known as a devoted mobilizer for President Yoweri Museveni, Tuhaise has become a household name in the NRM for his hands-on leadership, relentless mobilization, and development-first approach. His strong connection to the grassroots and firm belief in the NRM’s mission has earned him the trust of voters, not just as a politician—but as one of their own.
One of his most ambitious initiatives as the new NRM Chairman for Mbarara is the construction of a state-of-the-art NRM district office in Mbarara. This modern facility is expected to revolutionize party coordination, serving as a hub for mobilization, political education, and strategic planning across the district.
“We needed leadership that doesn’t just talk, but builds. Tuhaise is giving us something tangible. He’s bringing structure and energy to the party,” said David Nuwamanya, a youth mobilizer in Kakiika.
Tuhaise’s reputation for funding party activities, mentoring young cadres, and investing in local development has further strengthened his image as a servant leader. His efforts have breathed new life into the NRM’s grassroots networks in Mbarara, ensuring the party’s presence and message resonate at every corner of the district.
“He has restored dignity and pride to the party at the district level. People feel heard. People feel represented,” said Sarah Turyowe, a member of the NRM Women’s League.
With his unopposed victory, Prosper Tuhaise has cemented his status as one of the most trusted and influential NRM leaders in Western Uganda. His leadership is being hailed as a new era of disciplined party stewardship, grassroots empowerment, and strategic advancement for the ruling party in the region.
