The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has extended the ongoing Ramadan food distribution drive to Kiyindi Mosque in Nankulabye, Rubaga Division, where dozens of Muslim faithful received relief packages.
Hajjat Namyalo was represented by two ONC officials, Mr Kalema George William and Mr Muwada Kibilango, who delivered assorted food items to support the fasting community during the holy month.
The donated packages included cooking oil, dates for breaking the fast, beans, maize flour, milk, spaghetti, rice and sugar. The initiative forms part of ONC’s wider outreach program aimed at easing the burden on vulnerable Muslims observing Ramadan.
Receiving the items on behalf of the mosque, Sheikh Musa Abubakari Sebalu expressed gratitude to the government and specifically to Hajjat Namyalo for the timely intervention.
“We thank the NRM government for always thinking about the wanainchi on the ground and for standing with the Muslim community, especially during this sacred season of fasting,” Sheikh Sebalu said. “Hajjat Namyalo has shown true leadership and compassion. May Allah bless her abundantly in this holy month. She has bridged the gap between President Museveni and the ordinary people by constantly reaching out and listening to their needs.”
He added that such acts of generosity reflect the spirit of Ramadan, a month defined by charity, sacrifice and strengthening bonds within the community.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Sheikh Sebalu reminded believers of the importance of giving during Ramadan: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven ears; in every ear is a hundred grains” (Qur’an 2:261). He also cited Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183): “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”
Speaking on behalf of ONC and Hajjat Namyalo, Mr Kalema conveyed greetings from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, noting that the Head of State values all Ugandans regardless of faith.
“The President loves all Ugandans. Just as he supports Christians during Uganda Martyrs Day and Christmas celebrations, he also stands with Muslims during Ramadan. It is the same spirit of unity and national togetherness,” Kalema said.
He further noted that the President appreciates the continued support from wananchi and remains committed to improving their welfare.
Since the start of Ramadan, the ONC team led by Namyalo her self, has been traversing different parts of Kampala, delivering food assistance to various Muslim communities. The outreach is expected to continue in the coming days as part of efforts to ensure that no fasting believer is left behind during this sacred month.
For the beneficiaries at Kiyindi Mosque, the gesture was not only material support but also a reaffirmation of solidarity, faith and shared humanity during Ramadan.
