Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth has applauded the Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, for supporting residents in his constituency with wealth-creation items aimed at improving household incomes and reducing poverty.

Oboth made the remarks on Monday while attending a thanksgiving ceremony organized in honor of State Minister for Agriculture, Desire Muhooza, at the Sheraton Hotel.

The Speaker recalled Namyalo’s recent visit to his constituency, during which she distributed a range of empowerment tools and equipment to local residents under the ONC’s wealth-creation and poverty alleviation programme.

Addressing guests at the event, Oboth expressed gratitude to Namyalo for extending support to his constituents, noting that the initiative had provided many families with practical opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

“I thank my sister, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, for coming to our area and supporting my people with items that can help lift them out of poverty. Such interventions give hope to families and create opportunities for economic transformation at the household level,” Oboth said.

Under Namyalo’s leadership, the ONC has intensified community empowerment campaigns across the country in line with President Yoweri Museveni’s call for Ugandans to embrace wealth creation, self-reliance and sustainable income generation.

The programme has seen thousands of beneficiaries receive income-generating tools, including sewing machines, salon equipment, brick-making machines, agricultural inputs and other startup resources designed to help individuals establish or expand small businesses.

On several occassions, Namyalo has told Swift News that these initiatives are intended to equip communities with practical skills and tools that can generate income, create employment and improve household welfare, particularly among youth, women and other vulnerable groups.

Beneficiaries of the programme praise the intervention, saying the support has enabled them to engage in productive economic activities and reduce dependence on handouts.

The ONC wealth-creation drive has increasingly become a key component of government efforts to combat poverty and promote socio-economic transformation at the grassroots level. Across different parts of the country, beneficiaries continue to report improved livelihoods and expanded business opportunities following the support received through the programme.

Economists and political pundits say such empowerment initiatives complement broader government strategies aimed at boosting household incomes and ensuring that more Ugandans participate meaningfully in the country’s economic growth.
