Gen Muhoozi Names Sudhir Ruparelia, Kirumira Among 118 New PLU Patriotic Officers

Businessman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and city tycoon Godfrey Kirumira Kalule have been assigned Patriotic Officer (PO) numbers by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), joining a list of 118 prominent Ugandans recognised by the organisation.

Dr Ruparelia was assigned PO/198, while Kirumira received PO/199, according to a statement released on Friday, September 11, 2026, by PLU General Secretary Fadil Twalla.

The two prominent businessmen are among a high-profile group of government officials, politicians, professionals, business leaders and other public figures awarded PO numbers by PLU Chairman Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Former Vice President Professor Gilbert Bukenya was also named among the latest appointees, receiving PO/300.

The inclusion of Dr Ruparelia and Kirumira places two of Kampala’s well-known business figures within the organisation’s growing network of Patriotic Officers.

Dr Ruparelia is one of Uganda’s leading private-sector investors, with interests across several sectors, including real estate, education, hospitality and other businesses. His business activities have made him one of the country’s most prominent figures in the private sector.

Kirumira is also a long-standing figure in Kampala’s business community and has been assigned the PO number immediately following Dr Ruparelia’s designation.

The latest list also features several ministers and other public officials, including Amos Lugoloobi, Sarah Nakawuki, Musa Ecweru and Faith Mercy Lakisa.

In announcing the appointments, Twalla said the individuals had been awarded Patriotic Officer numbers by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who serves as chairman of the PLU.

The latest appointments further expand the PLU’s list of recognised figures drawn from Uganda’s political, business, professional and public spheres.

For Dr Ruparelia and Kirumira, the new designations mark their inclusion among a group of influential Ugandans who have been formally assigned Patriotic Officer numbers by the organisation.
