Katwe Revolution: Hajjat Namyalo Launches Explosive Anti-Poverty Blitz to Uplift Uganda’s Forgotten Communities

By Frank Kamuntu

In a bold move that promises to shake the foundations of poverty in Uganda’s most neglected communities, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the fiery head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has announced a major anti-poverty drive set to ignite Katwe on July 4th, 2025.

Speaking at a packed press conference at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, Hajjat Namyalo unveiled the groundbreaking initiative—“Abanaku Tweyambe Wealth Creation Empowerment”—a high-impact campaign that will directly empower thousands of Uganda’s most vulnerable citizens, from jobless youth and single mothers to the elderly, sex workers, and slum residents.

“We’re not handing out promises. We’re delivering tools for survival and success,” Namyalo declared, her voice firm with conviction. The ONC will be distributing essential startup kits: salon equipment, sewing machines, carpentry tools, popcorn machines, and even boda boda motorcycles—resources meant to instantly kickstart small businesses and promote self-sufficiency.

“This is just the beginning,” she vowed. “We will not stop until every corner of this country has felt the impact of this campaign.”

Unlike other government poverty programs—such as Emyooga, the Parish Development Model, and Operation Wealth Creation—this ONC-led initiative stands out for its direct, grassroots-oriented approach. Namyalo revealed that President Yoweri Museveni himself has taken a personal interest in the project after relentless lobbying on her part.

“People from every region have been calling out for help,” she said. “I kept knocking on the President’s door, even when funding was tight. I refused to give up—and now, the dream is coming alive.”

Already, the campaign has left a trail of transformation across the country, from Luwero to Mukono, the Acholi sub-region to Ankole, proving ONC’s commitment to spreading real, tangible change in line with President Museveni’s vision for a wealthier, self-reliant Uganda.

As July 4th approaches, all eyes now turn to Katwe—a community poised to become the epicenter of a new wave of economic liberation.
