Don Chris, a flamboyant businessman known for his extravagant lifestyle, is reported to have relocated to Paris, France.
This move comes amid allegations of fraud involving his company, Skypins Tours and Travel, which promised job opportunities abroad to desperate Ugandans.
As CEO of Skypins Tours and Travel, Don Chris ran widespread advertisements on social and mainstream media.
These campaigns targeted Ugandans seeking work abroad, mainly in Europe and the United States, drawing hundreds to his offices in Ntinda, Kampala.
In his messages, Don Chris reportedly advised applicants not to sell their property or secure loans, citing no guarantees at embassies.
He did, however, suggest that going through “the middle” would be easier—a statement many interpreted as a green light for shortcuts.
Despite his warning, many Ugandans went ahead to sell off belongings and take out loans, believing the promise of foreign employment.
Videos circulating online show applicants expressing frustration and regret after investing heavily in paperwork.
The company, based at Haruna Mall, became a hub for hopeful job seekers. However, it later emerged that the jobs were non-existent. Victims say they paid upwards of UGX 10 million each for the supposed opportunities.
According to reports, Don Chris fled the country after collecting billions of shillings.
Sources allege he left with over UGX 1 billion, money many hoped would change their lives, but instead fueled his fresh start in Europe.
Those defrauded now face an uncertain future. Many are saddled with debts, having sold land or property to afford the process. Their dreams have turned into a nightmare, with little hope of compensation or legal redress.
Authorities are reportedly investigating the matter, but there’s little optimism about extraditing Don Chris. His current location in France further complicates any efforts to hold him accountable for the alleged scam.
