Big Boost: Meera Ruparelia Joins Victoria University Council To Advance Rajiv’s Vision

Victoria University has officially appointed Meera Ruparelia as the new Representative of the Directors to the University Council, ushering in what the institution describes as a new era of leadership and continuity.

In a press statement dated April 16, 2026, the university confirmed that Meera has been sworn into the role, succeeding her late brother, Rajiv Ruparelia, whose legacy continues to shape the institution’s direction.

During this event, University Vice Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Muganga paid tribute to Rajiv, acknowledging his immense contribution to higher education in Uganda, particularly his emphasis on innovation and experiential learning.

“Rajiv’s vision transformed not just an institution, but the entire approach to modern education in Uganda. His legacy remains deeply embedded in everything we do,” said Muganga.

Taking on her new role, Meera emphasized her commitment to building on that legacy while steering the university into the future.

“It is both an honour and a responsibility to step into this role. I am committed to upholding the values of innovation, resilience and practical learning that have defined Victoria University,” she said.

She further highlighted the need to align education with global trends, especially in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

“Our focus is to ensure that Victoria University remains at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution by bridging the gap between academia and industry,” Meera added.

University management expressed confidence in her leadership, noting that her appointment represents both stability and forward-thinking direction.

“We are confident that Ms. Ruparelia will provide strong leadership and strategic guidance as we continue shaping a responsive and future-ready education system,” added Dr Muganga.

The university also reiterated its commitment to continue delivering quality, industry-driven education that equips students with relevant skills for the modern workforce.

“With this appointment, we are not just maintaining continuity, we are strengthening our resolve to innovate, grow and lead,” noted Muganga.

Meera Ruparelia’s appointment signals a renewed drive toward excellence, as Victoria University continues to position itself as a leader in transformative, technology-driven education in Uganda and beyond.
