Victoria University has acquired a new branded bus as preparations for its 10th graduation ceremony hit top gear, with the institution set to celebrate its graduands on Monday and Tuesday at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
Painted in the university’s signature red and black colours and emblazoned with the message “The Future Is Here,” the new bus adds to the institution’s transport fleet and strengthens its brand visibility as it prepares for one of the biggest events on its academic calendar.
The acquisition comes as the university puts final touches to arrangements for the two-day ceremony scheduled for October 19 and 20, 2026, which will bring together graduands, parents, guardians, university officials and invited guests to celebrate academic achievement.
Running under the theme “The Future Is Here,” the graduation will showcase the achievements of students completing various academic programmes while highlighting the university’s commitment to producing skilled, innovative and future-ready professionals.
Monday’s ceremony will feature graduands from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), while Tuesday will see students from the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) take their turn.
Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 7:00am on both days at Speke Resort Munyonyo, where families and other guests will join the university community to recognise the hard work, perseverance and achievements of the graduating students.
For Victoria University, popularly known as the “University of You,” the 10th graduation is more than a celebration of academic qualifications. It is an opportunity to showcase an education model that connects classroom learning with practical skills and the demands of the changing job market.
Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Lawrence Muganga, the university has continued to promote practical, student-centred and technology-driven education aimed at preparing learners for emerging professional opportunities.
One of its distinctive initiatives is Work-Integrated Learning, under which graduates receive a Work-Integrated Learning Transcript documenting practical skills, industry projects, professional competencies and workplace experience acquired during their studies, alongside conventional academic transcripts.
The approach seeks to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and the practical abilities employers increasingly demand, encouraging students to graduate with experience that can help them navigate professional environments.
The university’s focus on emerging technologies is also reflected in programmes such as the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, and Bachelor of Software Engineering.
Its broader academic portfolio includes Law, Pharmacy, Nursing Science, Business, Journalism, Tourism, Agriculture and Education, alongside diploma and postgraduate programmes across several disciplines.
As artificial intelligence and digital transformation reshape workplaces, the institution continues to emphasise innovation, digital literacy and practical competencies as important elements of graduate preparation.
For the graduands, the upcoming ceremony will mark the culmination of years of lectures, examinations, assignments and practical training. For their families, it will be an occasion to celebrate the sacrifices and support that have helped them reach this milestone.
