Horror! Plane Carrying 50 Passengers & Five Crew Crashes At Mogadishu Airport

By Swift Reporter

A passenger plane was seen veering off the runway before dramatically crash-landing onto the shoreline in Somalia after the pilot was forced to make a ‘swift’ emergency landing.

The pilot has been praised for his heroic actions after all 50 passengers and five crew survived the near-disaster.

According to officials, a Fokker 50 plane had only just taken off from the Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu when it developed a technical problem 15 minutes into the flight,  Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority said.

Officials confirmed the plane had been bound for the northern city of Gaalkacyo.

The pilot had requested to return the plane, but as he undertook the emergency landing it overshot the runway and came to rest in the shallow waters of the Indian Ocean nearby.

Authorities said an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the incident.

Footage and images posted on X show passengers leaving the aircraft, which appeared to have a broken wing and nose.

Speaking to the BBC, Starsky spokesman Hassan Mohamed Aden said: ‘We are relieved to confirm that all passengers and crew are safe.

‘Investigations are under way to establish what caused the technical issue that led to the emergency landing.

‘The pilot’s swift and calm decision-making played a decisive role in ensuring the safety of everyone on board, and we commend him for how he handled the situation.’
