Kampala-Business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has granted permission to rally drivers and motorsport enthusiasts to utilize RR Pearl Tower One as the official assembly point for the forthcoming Late Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Drive, in a symbolic gesture that underscores both remembrance and continuity.
The approval, communicated without delay, paves the way for a poignant commemoration scheduled for May 3, 2026—exactly one year since the untimely demise of Rajiv Ruparelia, a celebrated figure in Uganda’s motorsport circles and a director within the Ruparelia Group.
Organized under the banner of TT Drags and Drifts Uganda, the memorial drive is envisaged as both a tribute and a unifying procession for the country’s racing community. The choice of RR Pearl Tower One—an architectural landmark intrinsically tied to the Ruparelia legacy—adds a layer of symbolic gravitas, given the building’s naming in honor of the late Rajiv.
According to the organizers, participants will convene at the premises for registration, briefing, and the ceremonial flag-off before proceeding to Speke Resort Munyonyo, another location deeply associated with Rajiv’s professional footprint. The route and structure of the drive are intended to reflect both discipline and reverence, aligning with safety protocols while celebrating Rajiv’s enduring influence on motorsport culture.
Rajiv Ruparelia was widely regarded as an energetic patron of rallying and automotive sport in Uganda, blending corporate leadership with an unmistakable passion for high-performance driving. His death in May 2025 sent shockwaves through both the business and sporting communities, leaving a void that enthusiasts say is still profoundly felt.
Dr. Sudhir’s immediate consent has been interpreted by many within the fraternity as a reaffirmation of the family’s support for initiatives that preserve Rajiv’s legacy. It also signals an openness to collaborative remembrance efforts that bridge corporate spaces with public sentiment.
Organizers have assured stakeholders that meticulous arrangements will be instituted to guarantee orderly conduct, respect for the venue, and seamless coordination throughout the event.
As engines prepare to roar in tribute rather than competition, the memorial drive is expected to draw a significant turnout—transforming grief into a collective homage, and reaffirming the enduring imprint Rajiv Ruparelia left on Uganda’s motorsport landscape.
