“My Chief Muzzukulu Must Be Protected” – Museveni Restores Namyalo’s Security Detail

By Swift Reporter

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed the restoration of the security detail attached to Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, while ordering an investigation into the circumstances surrounding its earlier withdrawal.

According to reports, the President indicated that he was unaware of the decision to withdraw Namyalo’s security personnel and subsequently directed the relevant authorities to establish how the decision was reached, who authorised it and whether the established procedures were followed.

Namyalo’s security detail, reportedly comprising officers attached to the Police Presidential Guard (PPG), is said to have been withdrawn on September 29, although the circumstances surrounding the decision have not been officially clarified.

The development has attracted public attention amid reported political differences within sections of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilisation structures and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), particularly regarding political positioning and discussions about the country’s future leadership beyond 2031.

The differences reportedly became more visible following claims that Namyalo’s mobilisation team in Bugisu had endorsed President Museveni for another term beyond 2031. The reported position attracted criticism from some individuals associated with the PLU.

However, it remains unclear whether the political disagreements had any connection to the reported withdrawal of Namyalo’s security personnel. No official findings have so far established such a link.

Namyalo heads the ONC, an NRM structure that supports the party’s National Chairman through political mobilisation and grassroots engagement. The office has coordinated several nationwide initiatives targeting youth, women and other community groups.

The reported presidential intervention comes as questions emerge over the administrative processes that led to the withdrawal of the security personnel.

The inquiry is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the decision, determine whether it was properly authorised and clarify whether the relevant procedures were followed.
