Are We Prodigal Bazzukulu? Kampala NRM Mobilizers Petition ONC’s Namyalo Over Exclusion From Museveni Swearing-In Preparations

By Frank Kamuntu

A section of National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizers from Kampala’s five divisions on Friday petitioned the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) in Kyambogo, expressing dissatisfaction over what they termed as exclusion from preparations for President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s upcoming swearing-in ceremony.

The mobilizers, who paid a courtesy visit to the ONC offices headed by Senior Presidential Advisor and National Coordinator Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, said they felt sidelined despite their active involvement in grassroots campaigns that contributed to the ruling party’s victory in the recently concluded 2026 general elections.

According to the delegation, they participated in extensive door-to-door mobilization efforts beginning from the early days of the famous “TovaKuMain” campaign up to the final stages of the elections, and therefore expected to be part of the organization and mobilization activities ahead of the May 12 inauguration ceremony at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The group appealed to the ONC leadership to ensure that committed mobilizers are not left out during what they described as the “time of reaping” after sacrificing their time and resources to campaign for President Museveni and the NRM party.

They also requested an opportunity to meet President Museveni and formally present their concerns regarding participation in the historic event.

Responding to the concerns, Namyalo commended the mobilizers for their loyalty, resilience, and unwavering commitment to President Museveni and the ruling party throughout the election period.

She, however, clarified that the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony are currently being coordinated by a National Organizing Committee and not directly by the Office of the National Chairman.

“The inauguration preparations are being handled by the National Organizing Committee, not ONC directly,” Namyalo explained.

She nevertheless assured the mobilizers that efforts were being made to ensure their inclusion through the existing allocation framework under which every district is expected to send representatives to attend the function.

According to Namyalo, each district is expected to nominate at least 50 representatives for participation in the ceremony.

The ONC boss further revealed that she had already briefed President Museveni about the concerns being raised by mobilizers across different areas.

“The President advised that mobilization funds should be sourced from the Secretariat where the budget is held because no mobilization budget was allocated to ONC,” she told the gathering.

Namyalo pledged to engage relevant offices and stakeholders to ensure committed cadres and mobilizers are considered during the final arrangements.

She also appealed for calm, unity, and patience among supporters, assuring them that their efforts toward the NRM victory had not gone unnoticed.

“The President does not forget his people, and your contribution will be recognized at the right time,” Namyalo said.

Preparations for Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony are already in advanced stages, with government officials confirming that more than 30 foreign heads of state and international delegations are expected to attend the high-profile event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The ceremony will officially usher President Museveni into another term in office following his victory in the 2026 general elections, where he secured 71.6 percent of the vote.
