PAP Honours Late Rajiv Ruparelia for Outstanding Philanthropy and Pan-African Service

The late Ugandan businessman and philanthropist Rajiv Ruparelia was yesterday posthumously recognized with the 2026 Humanitarian Award by the Pan-African Pyramid (PAP), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to philanthropy, community empowerment and Pan-African solidarity.

According to the Pan-African Pyramid, Rajiv’s recognition was driven not only by the financial resources he committed to humanitarian causes, but also by his personal involvement, ideas and commitment to transforming communities.

PAP speaker Andrew Irumba Katusabe described Rajiv as a generation of African leadership grounded in selflessness, shared prosperity and service to humanity, noting that his most enduring legacy was reflected in the lives he touched through his philanthropic work.

Born on January 2, 1990, Rajiv became widely known as a visionary entrepreneur, but PAP said his humanitarian contribution went far beyond his business achievements.

The organization said Rajiv was a committed supporter of the Pan-African Pyramid and was among the individuals and organizations whose contribution enabled the organization to reach 12 years of existence.

“His contribution went beyond financial support,” PAP speaker said, noting that Rajiv provided ideas, resources and personal commitment that helped turn humanitarian concepts into practical interventions for communities in need.

His support, according to PAP, reflected his belief that African challenges could be addressed through African-led solutions and that Pan-Africanism should move beyond rhetoric and translate into tangible action.

Through the Ruparelia Foundation, Rajiv supported a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

His areas of support included education, healthcare, sports, environmental conservation and community welfare, with PAP highlighting scholarships for disadvantaged children, healthcare interventions, medical equipment, ambulances, health camps, disaster response and youth initiatives.

He also supported the development of young talent, including young entertainers such as Fresh Kid and Felista De Superstar, an indication of his belief that young Africans should be given opportunities to discover and develop their potential.

For PAP, what set Rajiv apart was the breadth and selflessness of his giving.

The organization noted that his philanthropy was not simply about funding projects, but about investing in people, dignity and possibility, reflecting his belief that Africa’s greatest resource is its people.

“Prosperity has meaning only when it is shared,” PAP said in its tribute to the late philanthropist.

Rajiv’s association with PAP also reflected his commitment to the organization’s broader Pan-African vision.

PAP said his contribution helped advance efforts to reshape perceptions of Pan-Africanism, emphasizing an ideology centred on humanity, solidarity and practical solutions rather than identity alone.

The organization said Rajiv consistently demonstrated that Pan-Africanism must move from rhetoric to action, using his resources and influence to support initiatives that directly benefited communities.

His approach to philanthropy therefore became part of a wider legacy of encouraging Africans to invest in one another and create opportunities for communities to prosper.

Rajiv’s life was tragically cut short, but PAP said the impact of his humanitarian work continues to be measured through the opportunities he created, the people he supported and the hope he restored.

The organization described his legacy as one that extended beyond business and wealth, highlighting a life dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others.

His recognition at the 2026 PAP Awards therefore serves as a tribute to a young African entrepreneur whose humanitarian footprint, according to PAP, was as significant as his achievements in the business world.

In announcing the award, PAP delivered its verdict unequivocally:

“Ladies and gentlemen, the 2026 Humanitarian Award goes posthumously to the late Rajiv Ruparelia.”

The award places Rajiv among distinguished individuals and organizations recognized for contributing to PAP’s vision and its efforts to promote humanitarianism, shared prosperity and practical Pan-African solidarity.
