By Swift Reporter

Mbarara District was awash with excitement, color, and jubilation yesterday as thousands of National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters, youth groups, businesspeople, and community leaders poured onto the streets in a massive solidarity procession dubbed the “Walk For Museveni.”

The grand event was organized by Mbarara District NRM Chairperson, Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire, to celebrate the swearing-in of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his historic seventh term in office during the national ceremony held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.

The peaceful but energetic march snaked through major streets across Mbarara District, led by a brass band and accompanied by enthusiastic supporters chanting pro-Museveni slogans and singing revolutionary songs that have defined the NRM’s liberation struggle.

The atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervor as participants waved NRM flags, wore yellow party colors, and expressed confidence in President Museveni’s continued leadership.

Bringing Kololo to Mbarara

Speaking about this event, Prosper told our reporter that the celebrations were intended to ensure that supporters in western Uganda who were unable to travel to Kampala could still be part of what he described as a defining moment in Uganda’s political history.

“President Museveni’s swearing-in is not just a ceremony for those in Kampala; it is a victory for every Ugandan who believes in peace, stability, and development. We wanted our people here in Mbarara to celebrate this historic achievement from home,” Prosper said.

He added that the overwhelming turnout demonstrated the deep trust that the people of Mbarara continue to place in the President.

“The huge numbers we have seen today are a clear message that the people of western Uganda remain firmly behind President Museveni and the NRM. They appreciate the transformation he has brought to this country.”

The solidarity walk drew supporters from all walks of life, including the famous bazzukulu, boda boda riders, traders, farmers, youth groups, and even individuals from opposition backgrounds who joined in the celebrations.

After the procession, supporters converged at the district headquarters in Bwizibwera for a mega celebration featuring, music, dancing, and a lively disco.

Participants described the event as a powerful expression of unity and gratitude to a leader they credit with maintaining peace and spearheading Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

One youth leader at the event said: “Museveni is a leader who has guided Uganda for decades. As young people, we are celebrating continuity, opportunities, and the future he continues to build for us.”

Prosper Praised For Grassroots Mobilization

Political observers and party faithful praised Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire for what many described as one of the largest grassroots mobilization activities ever organized in western Uganda to mark a presidential inauguration.

A renowned businessman and respected mobilizer, Prosper is widely celebrated for his commitment to the NRM and for creating employment opportunities for thousands of Ugandans and Africans through his business ventures.

During the recent elections, he led extensive grassroots campaigns that contributed to President Museveni’s strong performance in the region.

Supporters Express Confidence In Museveni’s Vision

As President Museveni embarks on his seventh term, supporters at the event said they remain confident in his vision to drive Uganda toward greater prosperity and industrial transformation.

“This walk is our way of saying thank you to President Museveni for the peace, roads, electricity, and opportunities that have changed our lives,” said one supporter during the procession.

Another participant added: “Today Mbarara has shown that our loyalty to the NRM is unwavering. We are ready to support the President as he continues to lead Uganda to greater heights.”

The “Walk For Museveni” is being hailed as one of the most significant grassroots celebrations held in western Uganda in honor of the President’s inauguration.

For many, the massive turnout was more than just a celebration—it was a bold demonstration of loyalty, unity, and confidence in President Museveni’s enduring leadership.

As music echoed through the streets and thousands marched in yellow, Mbarara delivered a clear and unmistakable message: support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni remains strong, vibrant, and deeply rooted in the heart of western Uganda.
